PHOTOS: Disney 2011 Marathon, Orlando, FL

On January 7, 2011 we traveled to Orlando, FL for the Disney 2011 Marathon. That night we went to the Florida Mall where Caleb went to the M&M store, I saw a 2 story Starbucks, and we got Caleb some “Cars” (from the movie Cars) at the Disney store.

On Saturday, we visited “Downtown Disney” where Caleb saw Mr Potato Head & Buzz Lightyear and he rode on the merry go round. That night, Trisha made me a bowl of pasta and chicken to prepare me for the race.

For the Disney race weekend (a 5K on Friday, 1/2 marathon on Saturday, and full marathon on Sunday), there were over 54,000 runners and 100,000+ people who came to town for the race. I started the marathon with my friend from work, Peter Bruzzese who lives in Orlando. The first 17 miles of the race were great. I ran through magic kingdom and got my picture taken in front of the castle and with Woody and Jessie from the movie Toy Story. The last 9 miles of the race were really tough but I finished at 5:25 which is better than my first marathon (this was my second). Caleb and Trisha were at the finish holding signs to cheer me on and it was so wonderful. You’ll see the Mickey Mouse that Caleb got with the headband “I did it” and the gold medal. Caleb also got a shirt that says “my Daddy ran the 26.2 Disney 2011 marathon” that he wore to the finish.

After the race, we celebrated with Pei Wei Chinese food and, that night, we celebrated again with some amazing food from Anthony’s coal fired pizza – chicken wings in grilled onions, meal balls, and pizza.

Enjoy the pictures!

PICS & VIDEO: Caleb's First Haircut – January 7, 2011

On January 7, 2011 Caleb got his first haircut at Sportsclips in Bluffton (where “daddy” gets his hair cut). Calebs hair was so long and curly but some people mistook him for a girl. He also had lots of problems with his hair getting tangled after bathtime. So, we reluctantly decided to get his hair cut.

I’ve got 7 pictures and 2 videos (the second is just a continuation of the first as my iPhone ran out of space so I had to go to Trisha’s phone)

Caleb looks SO cute with his new haircut – enjoy!

Before Christmas, we took Ruby to Savannah where we went and ate at Mrs Wilk’s boarding house, visited the waterfront, and Forsythe Park.

The night before Christmas, Caleb made cookies for Santa Claus. He had trouble leaving them just sitting out so he bit off the snowman’s head and put the cookie back for Santa. Christmas morning, he opened his pile of presents and we had a great Christmas feast. There are also a few pictures of us going to see Christmas lights and Caleb playing with his new train set. There are 3 pictures of Palmetto Bluff on 12/23 where I went running.

And, here you’ll find the 1 hour video of Caleb opening his Christmas presents, complete with a cool intro and extro…  Enjoy!

Checkout the pictures below of the Angel Oak and the Morris Island Lighthouse that is totally surrounded by water… The Angel Oak is thought to be one of the oldest living things east of the Mississippi. It covers and 17,000 sq feet, has a diameter of 168 feet, and the longest branch is 89 feet long)

Finally, here are some great pictures from Trisha’s birthday in Charleston. We had cake the night before, opened up presents the morning of, and then headed to Charleston. In Charleston, we ate a the Hominy Grill (featured on the Travel Channel and Food Channel) who is famous for their “big nasty”. We ate at Bessenger’s BBQ for lunch and saw many great sights around the city.
